PEPENG Historical News and Relief Efforts

CALASIAO ICE PLANT, Inc.
C.I.P.I.

Wow! We've been so busy I couldn't post here - literally. Phew! That's expected, I suppose. Everybody's gotta rebuild here in Pangasinan. But let me remind everyone that almost all Luzon provinces were affected by Pepeng and Ondoy and that it was more severe in others.

Let's start with the worst hit in Pangasinan IMHO.
SM Rosales Underwater:
Watch the video and pause it at 1:00 minute. Notice that there are no cars or buses in the parking lot. That's coz they're underwater. Watch further and you'll see them again as waters subside. To think that the waters spared only the roof, that it reached the second floor...

You may want to read these front page articles by Sunday Post, it's Dagupan's weekly newspaper.

Let's thank our Mayorial Candidate (Calasiao, Pangasinan). Jun Samson, for providing various parts in Calasiao with aid and relief goods.

This picture was taken a while ago after feeding 2000 kids in the national elementary school in Calasiao and 5000 pax in highschool. Great! Our cook was the drunken master of the kambingan in front of Gardenia "Health" Studio and he be swearin' - yet he be helpin'.

PP TonyPats Patungan is there with us (left) and so were a dozen Rotary Club of Dagupan East (RCDE) service masters.

RCDE and APS-GIVES RELIEF EFFORTS in PARONGKING, GABON, and POBLACION EAST

RCDE President Mario Lim with Cong. Baby Arenas

But we (CIPI) also helped Calasiao, albeit most of our help came in the form of the use of our plant grounds for relief distribution. Last Sunday, October 18, Ateneo Professional Schools (APS-GIVES) arrived in a caravan carrying with them 1000 bags of relief goods.

They arrived in the DSWD center of Cal., near Sr. Tesoro and the Town Hall. From there, we escorted them with Congresswoman Baby Arenas. Thanks Maam! That escort service was d bomb! Flashing lights, Wangwang and all, phew! We took a pic during the activity as you can see on the right.

ALL THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE IF IT WEREN'T FOR RCDE (ROTARY CLUB OF DAGUPAN EAST) and most especially Director REX LOR (La Salette Schools) for he made it possible for our APS friends and RCDE to coordinate this philanthropic endeavor.

The pic on the left shows (from left to right) Cong. Arenas, Florencio Co, Rex Lor, and Grip Duate - the APS-GIVES head in Parongking Distributions, Ateneo Law School.

And super thanks to our police who were dispatched even before the activity. They regulated the traffic and made sure cars didn't hit our flood victims and vice versa.

And thanks also to our barranggay captain and bgy. officials for setting up the queue lines and managing our desperate brethren.

And thanks to our security personnel for making sure that the crowd don't just barge in and take over our peaceful and orderly operations. :-)

APS-GIVES gave 500 bags of Relief Goods to our Parongking Area, and 500 bags more to GABON and Poblacion East.

HERE ARE MORE PICS OF THE ACTIVITY

Let's start with "Group Pic at the End of the Day".

Here are pics of the cars we used. Too bad I didn't get d pics of the escorts, wangwang and all. I was driving in front and I did try but my phone got nothing. The video's worthless.

"The Gathering Crowds"
Don't worry, they're perfectly safe. We only give goods to those with tickets which were pre-distributed by Maribel and other CIPI-Parongking employees, Bgy. Officials, and DSWD with strict emphasis on giving them to the most needy and possibly homeless due to the flood. And as you can see, the were only let in 10 or 20 at a time. Gates close. Tickets, queuelines, batches, enclosures, relays, man they were impressed - this was very organized! Thanks to the cooperation of all concerned! :-).

The queue lines and relief relay:

I wish that next time we (CIPI) could also give RELIEF GOODS ourselves. Remember this came from APS-GIVES and they came all the way from Rockwell, Makati. They drove six hrs. because there was heavy traffic in EDSA. More people really do need help in San Vicente, Lasip, Talibew, and Banaoang (?) etc.

Before this activity, we at RCDE already went around other municipalities to help out our needy brethren. In fact, just before this, we had a joint effort with Moms for Moms foundation and distributed relief goods for newly born babes and pregnant and post labor moms in hospitals. It was quite saddening to see most of our moms and babes in crowded rooms, 2 moms sharing 1 bed was the norm.

So to anyone out there who wants to join forces with RCDE and help people, go ahead. We'll make it happen.

CIPI vs Pepeng

[CLICK ON PICS FOR FULL SIZE VIEW]

On October 8, 2009, around 1:00 pm, the San Roque Multi-Purpose (SRMP) dam issued a warning to the public that it was about to release 2500 cu ft of water by opening all of its six gates.

Around 7:00 pm, October 8, 2009, Dagupan City caught a glimpse of the monstrosity that was about to devastate its people and infrastructure. The waters then were just tickling the soles of their feet. Flood waters slowly rose; and by the break of dawn, many areas of Pangasinan were knee deep in flood, if not waist or neck deep, or even deeper than that! It was then slowly announced that the dikes of various rivers, especially that of Bayambang, broke. That's why in the morning of October 9, 2009, people saw the inrush of flood waters in their cities and municipalities.

This car needs a mechanic!

Many areas were house deep in water. The second floor of S.M. Rosales was not spared by the flood waters. That's about 20ft. You could just imagine what happened to Calasiao Ice Plant, Inc.
